Islam Makhachev was able to knock out Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 294. Meanwhile, Khamzat Chimaev overcame Kamaru Usman's fierce resistance by winning on points.
The UFC 294 duel was held at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi, Sunday (22/10/2023) early morning. There were five main matches held, with the peak between Islam Makhachev vs Alexander Volkanovski.
In that duel, Islam Makhachev had no difficulty in crushing his opponent. It only took one round for Khabib Nurmagomedov's disciple to defeat Volkanovski.
Before the end of the first round, Islam's kick to Volkanovski's head made Volkanovski stagger. The 31-year-old fighter then immediately rained punches on Volkanovski, until the referee finally asked Makhachev to stop his attacks.
Islam Makhachev was declared to have won by knockout in that match, becoming his second victory over Alexander Volkanovski after the duel last February. He can also defend his lightweight championship belt, while extending his record to 25 wins.
